Topeka Zoo And Pespi Cola To Present Storytime At Barnes And Noblebookseller |
The Topeka Zoo and Pepsi Cola of Topeka will be presenting Story Time at Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Wednesday, August 13th, 2008. The program will start at 10 a.m. in the children’s section of Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Children will hear a story and conservation message, plus do a fun craft.
Pepsi Cola of Topeka, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Friends of the Topeka Zoo and Topeka Zoo present Children’s Story Time the 2nd Wednesday of each month, free to the public.

Let's Trumpet Over Recycling-project Re-direct Kickoff Scheduled At The Topeka Zoo Mayor Bill Bunten and City Manager Norton Bonaparte will officially kick off the 19th year of Project Re-Directory on Friday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. in front of the outdoor Elephant exhibit at the Topeka Zoo. The elephants will be recycling phone booking by creating colorful artwork (painting artwork useing old phone books). The campaign is sponsored by AT&T Real Yellow Pages and organized by Keep America Beautiful-Topeka/Shawnee County. Topeka hosted the first telephone book recycling project in Kansas leading the way for other communities across the state to set up similar programs.
Children attending zoo camps will be joined by Hamburglar from McDonalds, Peka Sue from Topeka Zoo. All will help to recycle old AT & T telephone books. New 2008 AT&T Real Yellow Pages directories will be delivered to businesses and residences starting July 28th and old outdated directories can then be dropped off at several locations throughout Topeka and surrounding communities from August 1st through September 21st. Drop-off locations include: • All Dillon Stores • All McDonald Restaurants (except 29th & Oakley) • Auburn – Apple Mart • Brookwood Covenant Church—3601 SW 33rd • Carbondale – Skip’s Thriftway • City Hall/County Court House – (Circle Drive) • Dover Mercantile |
