The Parks and Recreation of Topeka’s vision statement is to improve the quality of life by providing safe, enjoyable, and attractive parks and facilities, with diverse programs and efficient and responsive services, which enhance neighborhoods and encourage citizens to view the department as a valued investment in their daily lives. This is accomplished through recreational programs developed for youth, adults, seniors and special needs populations and through the development of partnerships and contract services.

The Recreation Division provides a full range of outdoor sports activities and several family aquatic centers. The Parks Division oversees 101 parks and green space totaling 1,600 acres.
